Math Pathways
Math Pathways represent the relationship and sequencing of the math courses offered at NECC. A student's initial placement into a sequence of math courses is dependent upon their Math Assessment Test result, or their Final High School GPA of 2.7 or higher within 3 years of graduation beginning with Spring 2014 graduates and forward.
In addition students must also meet the reading proficiency required to take a college level math course. Individual programs require particular math courses and sequencing.
Consult with an academic advisor before selecting the math course sequences in your academic program.
Math Pathways are presented below in two formats as part of our efforts to provide clear and concise information. The first format is a chart of Math Pathways, and the second is an all-text version.
Developmental Math Courses
Cannot be used to satisfy math elective requirements for graduation in any certificate or degree program. The courses include Foundations of Math MAT020, Foundations of Algebra MAT022, and Math Literacy for College Students MAT090 (only for Non-Stem Pathway). The course sequence is as follows: Foundations of Math MAT020 THEN EITHER Foundations of Algebra MAT022 (for all three Math Pathways) OR Math Literacy for College Students MAT090 (only for Non-Stem Pathway).
