CHW190 Community Health Worker Practicum

Experiential learning in a community and/or health care setting that will provide students with an opportunity to focus upon concepts pertaining to community health, outreach and education, health insurance, and health care delivery. Students must complete a minimum of  (8) hours per week at an approved site with (1) additional hour per week of online discussion/reflection to complete this practicum. Students who are in their graduating year for the Associate in Public Health program and the certificate for the Community Health Worker concurrently, may substitute CHW290 for CHW190

CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and/or CHRI (Criminal History Record Information) and/or SORI (Sex Offender Record Information) are required prior to participation in this course.

Students are required to be CPR certified prior to the start of class. Students must provide their own transportation. Malpractice insurance is necessary.

Students enrolled in this academic course may be required to pass a drug screening analysis.

The student must attend a mandatory orientation meeting prior to practicum participation. 

A minimum grade of C must be earned in this course.
