Financial Aid

At Northern Essex Community College we are committed to assisting students and their families meet the costs of a college education.

Financial aid can help you pay for the costs of attending NECC including tuition and fees, books, and other costs (room and board, transportation, and personal costs).Most NECC students receive some sort of financial aid, so we encourage you to apply today!

All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before they can receive any financial aid while attending NECC. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

In addition to completing the FAFSA, a student must also meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need (for most programs).
  • Be accepted to and enrolled in a degree or certificate program at NECC.
  • Have a valid Social Security number.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Meet Selective Service registration requirements.
  • Not owe a refund on Title IV money, or be in default on any previous student loan.
  • Have a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED) certificate or graduate from an approved home schooling program.
  • Be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for Direct Loan Program funds.
