DAN148 World Dance II

World Dance II is a study of traditional dances of India, the Middle East, and Spain, learning the fundamentals of heavily syncopated dance forms such as: Katak, Flamenco and Belly Dancing. Emphasis is on cultivating relevant technique(s) as well as increasing self-expression through an expanded movement vocabulary. Students will learn articulated foot patterns to the challenging rhythms of each culture. Focus is on connections between Eastern and Western dance forms. The general principles of dance technique requires proper alignment, center point of balance, opposition balance, transfer of weight, specific rhythm patterns, turns and turning techniques.
