MUS102 Introduction to Western Music

Introduction to Western Music is a chronological survey of the music of Western European civilization. Students will listen and learn to understand music occurring throughout the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th century musical time periods. From each of these time periods, students will listen to the most significant composers, and study their many varied music compositions, both sacred and secular, along with learning the historical evolution of these compositional forms and musical styles.
