Criminal Justice: Private and Public Safety, Associate in Science (Accelerated)

Click here to go to the Mass Transfer webpageAssociate in Science Degree in Criminal Justice: Private & Public Safety Option (Accelerated) describes and analyzes the various aspects of the criminal justice system. The course curriculum is designed to take a systems approach in understanding the crime problem in the United States. The program is structured for those students with current or prior experience in the criminal justice field and can be completed in 16 months through a 7 ½ week course curriculum path. It is recognized that a majority of criminal justice students continue their education after completing their degree. Consequently, the curriculum has a broad, academic orientation, facilitating transfer to four-year institutions.

A minimum of 68 credits are required for graduation.

Candidates for the Associate in Science Degree in Criminal Justice: Private & Public Safety Option (Accelerated) must be college ready in math and English and obtain approval from the Criminal Justice Program Coordinator.

Any student enrolled in an associate degree program who is new to NECC and has no academic history at the college, must take at least one course designated as intensive in each of NECC’s six-core academic skills-in order to graduate. In most cases, the program’s core required courses include these intensive courses. Students should select electives that meet core academic skills that are not met by the required courses.  Plan to see an advisor for more complete information about this graduation requirement.
