DAN142 Modern Dance Techniques

Utilizing basic Modern Dance technique, the student in this course learns advanced techniques and skills to attain proficiency. While the emphasis is on sound technique, time is also reserved for creative activity. A study of the history of modern dance will continue with the emphasis on dance figures following the era of the four pioneers. The General principles of dance technique encompass turn-out, proper alignment, weight distribution, stance, transfer of weight, squareness, pullup or lift, counterpull, counter balance, aplomb, and balance.
