DAN132 Jazz Dance Techniques

Jazz Dance Techniques includes intermediate jazz technique as well as jazz history. Students will learn proper vocabulary; proper execution of dance movements; study of body/endurance, and flexibility work. Students will also study the history of jazz through observing, describing, discussing and writing movement ideas. The General principles of dance technique encompass turn-out, proper alignment, weight distribution, stance, transfer of weight, squareness, pullup or lift, counterpull, counter balance, aplomb, and balance.
