HUM102 Introduction to Liberal Arts

For this introductory course in the Liberal Arts program, students will examine the value and importance of drawing on several academic disciplines to understand issues that are too complex to be addressed effectively using any single discipline.  Each course will feature at least two disciplines that conceive and study a common topic, contemporary social issue, or problem. Students will learn methods that are literary, historical, or based on a social science, and may draw from other disciplines such as the sciences, fine arts, and philosophy. Students taking this course are asked to read, analyze and discuss a diverse body of works (texts, film, and visual art) relating to the special topic assigned by the instructor.
