EST113 Principles of Manufacturing

The course introduces foundational practices for manufacturing performance. Topics covered are typical of all manufacturing entities and are necessary for compliance and successful manufacturing execution. Topics may include Lean Manufacturing, Quality Principles, ISO/AS 9100, Inspection techniques, ESD, FOD, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Basic Six Sigma tools, Problem Solving, Manufacturing, Leadership, Supervision and Communication. The course portrays the relationship of Manufacturing to other business components, its role as a profit / cost center, the financial implications of Inventory, etc. The course will provide skills for being more effective associates of a business and allow students to identify options for further exploration.
