HUS210 Fundamentals in Children's Behavioral Health

This course acquaints students with skills necessary to function as part of a child/family support team in the human service field. This course will provide an opportunity to learn through observation and experience which will be integrated classroom lecture, discussion and readings. Child development, child/adolescent mental health, trauma response, and systems of care will be among those topics addressed.  This course will emphasize developing the ability to communicate, both orally and written, with professional teams, agencies, youth and their families about all aspects of mental health treatment in a culturally competent, strength-based manner.
