MAT020 Foundations of Mathematics

This course provides the numerical and algebraic skills needed to begin a mathematical pathway that is appropriate for a student’s program of study. Numeracy will be built through active learning of concepts and applications involving whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, and percent. Algebraic thinking will be developed by engaging students in problem solving activities with variables, expressions, and equations. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for a course in Foundations of Algebra (currently Basic Algebra II) or Mathematical Literacy for College Students. PLEASE NOTE: This course is a developmental course and DOES NOT carry graduation credit. It is NOT usually transferable. Since developmental courses are mandated courses, students who do not meet the exit criteria of a grade of C or higher for math will be required to repeat them.
