PED201 Strength & Conditioning

This course is designed to introduce the student to the theory and practice of strength & conditioning to increase performance and reduce injury in an active population. Topics covered will include neuromuscular, neuroendocrine and cardiovascular adaptations to conditioning and resistance training. Students will review techniques in resistance exercise, plyometrics, olympic weightlifting, manual resistance training, medicine ball training, training with rubber bands, movement preparation, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, free weight techniques and performance and functional testing techniques used in developing a periodized conditioning program. Students will be eligible to sit for the National Strength & Conditioning, Certified Personal Trainer Exam at the completion of this course. The exam fee is included in the cost of this course.
