ESL034 ESL Advanced Listening/Speaking

This is an advanced listening / speaking course for non-native speakers of English. It emphasizes mastery of academic discussion and comprehension skills with a focus on pronunciation, intonation, and level-appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Students listen to academic lectures and other authentic listening materials and demonstrate understanding through detailed note-taking, writing, and discussion. PLEASE NOTE: This is a developmental course and DOES NOT carry graduation credit. It is NOT usually transferable. Since developmental courses are mandated, students who do not meet the exit criteria with a grade of C or higher for ESL will be required to repeat them.
