Computer and Information Sciences: Information Technology Option, Associate in Science

Courses and Requirements

The associate in science degree program in Computer and Information Sciences: Information Technology Option is designed to serve the needs of the career-oriented student who wishes to find employment as an Information Technology specialist or transfer to a four year institution for a degree in Information Technology. This program provides training in hardware, applications software, web technology, computer networks, and operating systems as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. A minimum of 68 credit hours are required for graduation.

Starting in the Fall of 2014, any student enrolled in an associate degree program who is new to NECC and has no academic history at the college, must take at least one course designated as intensive in each of NECC’s six core academic skills in order to graduate. In most cases, the program’s core required courses include these intensive courses. Plan to see an advisor for more complete information about this graduation requirement.

Program Notes

This prepares you to pursue careers in Information Technology, Technical Support, Technical Liaison, System Administrators, and IT technicians. Students who take courses based on Microsoft Office (CIS110, CIS112, and CIS113) must be prepared to use a Windows environment. Students will have access to this platform in all the campus labs.
