DAN122 Contemporary Ballet

Contemporary Ballet will utilize classical ballet principles and progress to the refinement of ballet technique through the use of modern dance principles. The combinations of movements from the classical ballet vocabulary will continue to emphasize proper alignment, strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility. The course will include a study of contemporary ballet history and the objective criticism of dance. The general principles of dance technique require proper alignment, center point of balance, opposition balance, transfer of weight, specific rhythmic patterns, turns and turning techniques. See Dance Coordinator if you have physical limitations that may prevent you from completing these activities.
