Clinical Research Coordinator Certificate

Courses and Requirements

The Clinical Research Coordinator Certificate Program is designed to provide those students with an interest in pursuing a career with a focus in clinical research a course of study toward their ultimate educational and career goals while simultaneously allowing them to earn a certificate that permits them to enter the workforce with employable skills.  This certificate program will also provide career laddering opportunities for those graduates of existing Associate and Baccalaureate Degree programs in Healthcare fields such as Medical Laboratory Technicians, Nurses, Radiologic Technologists, Respiratory Therapists, and Paramedics, as well as, graduates of programs who have earned an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in Science.

Program science courses must be completed within five (5) years prior to the anticipated start date of the program to count towards completing the certificate.  Students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in all career and science courses in order to graduate. 

A minimum of 24/25 credit hours are required to graduate with the Clinical Research Coordinator certificate.

CORI/CHRI/SORI

Students interested in participating in this program may be required to undergo a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), CHRI (Criminal Records Central Repository), and SORI (Sex Offender Record Information). For more information, visit the CORI/CHRI/SORI page on the NECC website.

Northern Essex Community College is committed to the success of every student.  Students with legal issues in their background will meet with a committee as part of the CORI/CHRI/SORI process and will receive guidance and counseling throughout the review of their records. NECC staff make every effort to help students prepare for careers in their chosen field.  Students are encouraged to seek assistance and support.

Drug Screening

Students enrolled in this academic program may be required to pass a random drug screening analysis.

CPR

Students are required to be CPR certified at the Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer level for this certificate program.

Health

Students must meet both the college and the Division of Health Professions immunization requirements prior to entering this program and/or prior to the start of any semester that has a clinical/externship component.

Student Professional Liability Insurance

Students are required to carry professional liability insurance if a course requires it.  The premium is to be paid at the time of course registration.

Prior to entering this certificate program applicants must have earned an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related health field or an associate or bachelor’s degree in science with a GPA of 2.0 or higher or may enter the program by permission of the Program Coordinator.  Additionally, applicants must have completed Anatomy and Physiology I and II with a minimum grade of C prior to entering this program.
